Hi thanks for visiting !

I grew up in village Kapure in Punjab (India). I completed schooling in my village and then travelled to different places for higher education. I consider my stay in P. U. Chandigarh as a turning point in my life. During this I met several wonderful friends from all over India who have inspired me a lot personally as well as academically.
Going to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur was first time being far away from home. I can never forget my first LONG train journey from Kalka-to-Howrah in a general compartment. Although, I did not stay very long in IIT but during this short stay I enjoyed talking with my Bengali friends and eating Bengali sweets. I liked both!. Kolkata (Calcutta) "city of joy" is an amazing place. While being in IIT, I got the opportunity to do part of my project work in Dresden, Germany under IIT-DAAD sandwich programe. After completing M.Tech in 2000, I joined as a Ph.D. student in IFW Dresden IFW Germany. I completed PhD in 2004 and then worked as a researcher at National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) Tsukuba, Japan. Currently, I am working in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Yale University(Yale), USA.
